Justin McNeal "CMS Wizard (aka The Survival R... I bought this for my fiance and I to use. I have always had gym memberships in the past using mostly free weights, but now due to my hectic schedule, driving to a gym is not an option. I have owned a Total Gym in the past. The Total Gym is the one that Chuck Norris and Christie Brinkley advertise on TV. Save yourself lots of money, don't buy one of those. The quality of this machine over the Total Gym is unbelievable. You can't compare the two, but I will anyway.
First let's talk price. The Total Gym's price is about $1800.00 the last time I checked. The Total Trainer has a cost of around $500.00. Now let's talk quality. I am a big guy (usually hover around 260 pounds at 6 feet tall) so not only was my weight a concern, but also my height and whether I could get a full range of motion with the exercises. On the Total Gym, my movements on the machine were tricky, due to its lighter construction and its propensity to wobble when I was on it. Additionally, I could not get a full range of motion on several of the movements on the Total Gym. However on the Total Trainer, I have experienced no wobbles at all. This machine is rock solid. On the Total Trainer I am able to perform all of the exercises comfortably. The third thing to compare is the accessories that come with this machine. The Total Trainer includes many more, which would cost additional money for the Total Gym. Finally, exercising on this machine is fun. In fact the first day that I had it, I enjoyed it so much I did 2 complete workouts. I paid for that in aspercreme and Tylenol (don't do that). For a person like me that enjoys power-lifting, but can't get to the gym anymore, this machine is perfect. I can't believe the level of workout that this machine gives me. I highly recommend it. My only complaint is that the machine does not have enough resistance for me on the bench press movements, or the squat movements. The machine also does not allow deadlift style movements to be performed. However, I am stronger than the typical person and if you are like me then you know that this machine will never totally replace a power rack and an Olympic bench (free weights), but still an excellent buy!!!! I really love this machine, and can get a full body workout on it. Thanks!!!
I looked around at several "Total Gym" type home gyms (including Total Gym) before purchasing the Total Trainer Pilates Pro. I purchased the Pro, as opposed to the basic Total Trainer Pilates because my husband is 6'3" and I wanted him to be able to use it if he cared to.
I chose to purchase the Total Trainer Pilate Pro because of the equipment included in the price, and the construction of the gym.
The gym is very solid, very easy to set up and you can get started on it within minutes of receiving it. It had a damaged end cap (which did not impact the use of the gym) when it arrived. I called Bayou Fitness and they immediately sent out a replacement. It also came with 2 VHS tapes and I don't have a VHS machine set up. I contacted them again and they are sending out DVD's instead - no charge to me.
This gym is solid, fun and relaxing to use. I've already been experiencing a change in weight and firmness. The instruction book is easy to read and gets you started very quickly. Pad rolls smoothly on the tracks and there is no rattling of parts during the workout. The gym folds easily and rolls for storage. I keep the gym set up in my large family room and fold it up behind a couch if we have guests in our home.
The delivery box was a bit heavy for a woman to manage. So keep that in mind if you have steps and no one to help get it into the room you'll have it set up in. Once it's out of the box, you can just roll it around.
This is a great gym and Bayou Fitness has great customer service via phone or live chat online.

This review is from: Body Solid FID46 Flat Incline Decline Bench (Sports)
Pro's:
- really solid bench, is quite heavy and sturdy
- wheels allow relatively easy mobility
- 8 adjustable positions from decline, to flat, to almost upright
- leg extension with handles that can allow you to lay on your stomach to work your hamstrings
- good for sit-ups, especially from the decline position
- padding is quite thick and solid, yet comfortable
- the back pad is almost 3 ft. so ample space
- all the screws, nuts, bolts, washers are clearly labeled and separated to make for an organized assembly

Cons:
- the pads were a hassle to fit, the screws weren't drilled in the exact place so some adjustments were necessary
- this thing is massive, definitely not a space saver
- sits up pretty high off the ground (I'm 5'10 and in the lower positions my feet barely touch the ground, I end up resting them on the U-bar)
- in the flat position, there's a 3-inch gap between the seat and back pads, it takes some wiggling to find a comfortable position which is not so easy when you're holding heavier weight over your chest
- bench can not go into a perfect 90-degree angle, it's more like 100 at "upright"

I was looking for one bench to do decline, flat, and upright. It's not completely upright, which isn't such a big deal but having it not be so comfortable flat is a disappointment. Having the leg extension though makes up for the shortcoming as it makes the bench more versatile. Having the back pad so long though makes it difficult to do tricep extensions sitting upright. However doing them while sitting on a ball is better for you anyway. Paid $200 with free shipping off Amazon.

I bought this and the box came within a few days. I opened it up to find out that this was a box that had been opened previously and a few pieces were mising. Don't know who exactly to blame on that (Body Solid or Amazon) but I was extremely disappointed by this. I called Body-Solid and they sent out the missing parts immediately.

Once I had all parts assembly was not too bad but took a little while. I could see it being tough for the not-so-handy types, or the guys who get almost all the way through a project and notice they forgot a bolt from step 1 (I would be that category).

The bench is rock solid. My buddy and I are big dudes and we lift big weights. We got this bench to replace our old one which may not have been up to the task to support our lifting. This monster is more than able. Comes complete too with handles for leg excersizes and the leg developer locks in place to hold your feet when you do declines. This is a serious bench and a great addition to any serious lifter's gym.

The warranty must be returned within 10 days of purchase - this is absurd. This includes the 5+ days it will take to ship the bench out to you, so if you are very lucky you will have time to both notice this fine print and also return the warranty by overnight mail. further, there is no indication anywhere as to which number the "Serial Number" is on the bench. There are 3 different ID codes on the bench, none of them marked. This is all irrelevant for me as I didn't even notice that the warranty can only be valid if returned within 10 days from the date of purchase - I didn't have time to assemble this until a week after receiving it, so I definitely didn't bother sending the warranty in late. Note that this bench doesn't come with all the tools necessary to build it (you need 2 large wrenches or better yet locking pliers to build this).

There were a dozen or so large scratches on my equipment. The parts seemed to all be there, though the brass washers which are supposed to be on nearly every hole on the frame were missing from 2 spots, and some of the others fell off constantly - very annoying.

The seat pads are ridiculous - they didn't align with the frame for me, so I could only screw in one side of the pads. I know I assembled the frame right so the problem is not on my end.

They should also make it more of a point/in larger font etc to state that you should only tighten all bolts at the very end - instead, they state this in a single sentence in 10pt font, in gray on a white background (a lot of the crucial steps are inexplicably in light gray text on a white background - hard to read).

So it works well, but there are serious flaws to the product (largest being the warranty hoops you must jump through) and I'm not surprised they just dropped the price by $100.

Unless you live 100's of miles from a sporting goods/dept. store or can cope with the above, I recommend going to a store like that and buying a unit that is pre-assembled and that you can try out first.

Bowflex SelectTech Adjustable Bench Series 5.1

By Harry Hogg (Seattle, WA USA) I bought the Select-Tech 552 dumbell set w/stand, so I needed a bench to go with it. I saw this was the 'matching' bench and had good reviews, so I went with it without much shopping around. I think I paid $150 with no tax or shipping. As I did not shop around, I don't know if this is a good 'value' compared to other brands.

As far as the bench itself, it is very sturdy. No wobbling while you are using it - this is a big plus. It also looks very nice and obviously matches my other equipment.

The adjustment options are nice to have, but to me they are mostly unnecessary. I only use it in the flat position and one incline position. I can't imagine what one would do with all the other positions, but maybe someone who is more sophisticated in their work out could utilize them.

The leg attachment, again, is very sturdy. I didn't buy it for sit-ups, nor would I recommend this to someone who wanted it solely for sit-ups, but if you want a bench primarily for lifting that gives you a sit-up option, this will work just fine.

As to the negatives... This was mentioned by another reviewer, but there is a opening in the bench where it folds up. It is really in a bad place (atleast for me, I am 6' 3") - right on the small of the back. It is uncomfortable and seems like it could cause injury. I am able to get around it by scooting my rear as close to the end of the bench before I lay back. Still, it seems like this could have been designed better.

The assembly was simple and consists primarily of using washers and bolts. On mine, on the bottom end, the welds were in the way of one of the holes I needed to put a bolt/washer through. The washer would not sit flat and it was very difficult to get this one tight.

Another complaint would be that the wheels are useless the way they are positioned - you will just end up dragging it from one place to another. And the bench does not fold up for storage, so it may not be the most compact bench to tuck away when not in use.

Overall, I would recommend the bench and I would buy it again, but it is far from perfect. If you shop around you may be able to find a better option for your individual needs. Hopefully my insight helps with your purchase decision!

I was looking for a decent bench to go along with my SelectTech dumbbell set and have found the 5.1 to be the best for the price. The construction is very sturdy and it took me about a half hour to put together. Contrary to one of the other reviews here, the bench travels from a decline position (with an excellent feature that allows the seat to be raised, preventing any back pain) to a 0, 30, 45, 60, and 90 degree incline. The detachable leg support allows for crunches and situps, one of my basic requirements. Construction and functionality-wise, this bench reminds me of the higher quality equipment I've used at health clubs but this is actually better due to the detachable leg support.

One complaint I have is that when I move the bench, the bench has to be lifted high in order for the wheels to catch the floor, otherwise, I end up dragging the bench on the legs. It's not that big of a deal now that I know this needs to be done. Overall, I am extremely happy to have purchased this bench.

If you're looking for a versatile workout bench to do your decline, incline, and flat bench presses, this bench is an excellent choice. I'm very happy with the quality of the construction, and it's as sturdy as most benches I've used in commercial gyms. The back can be adjusted from the decline position for situps/decline bench press to a full upright 90 degrees which is great for doing shoulder presses. The seat also has 2 adjustable positions, flat and decline. I like to workout with free weights most of the time and this bench allows me to do just about any exercise I need that requires a bench. The total assembly time took about an hour total, and was very easy. Although it's pricier than some of the other benches on Amazon, I think it's worth it.

How to use the Treadmill for Weight Loss?
Do you Know in what way to decrease my weight. Quite simply walking on a treadmill for 15 minutes. Usually people if you want to produce rapid weight loss with their exercise by running, but I made ... in accordance with the advice of your doctor .. that walking is much more healthy, safe and effective in losing weight ... especially to relieve stomach distended. Below I will give details of exercise ever conducted along with the pattern of life that must be done during training sessions.

First Practice Session

Performed in the morning after breakfast before leaving for work. Breakfast is quite a piece of bread with a poached egg. Before the workout I always drink water or tomato juiceExercise walking for 15 minutes. Within 15 minutes that I divided into 3 stages to increase the speed of the treadmill.

Second Practice Session

Performed while after lunch, plus a portion of the exercise to 15 minutes x 2, the exercise simply by walking, I try to set the time with work so I can go back fresh in the work. Do not forget to drink water before exercise.

Third Practice Session

Keep your dinner hour early, not to make too late, because this will cause more fat to accumulate in your body. As always you should drink plenty of water before practice begins. Enough exercise for 10 minutes before bed until you feel a little tired, this will lead to better quality of your sleep, do not be too much increase the reps at this time, because it will cause fatigue effects that are less good for your body.

Note :
Exercise routine every day
In the practice session the night, before bed is strictly forbidden to eat snacks or snack,
recommended you drink carrot juice for those who have acid reflux disease or tomatoes if you do not have the disease of stomach acid, an avocado is not recommended.

(Attention: training session is only for people who have problems with weight gain)
